コンピューターゲーム産業
日本のコンピューターゲーム産業は小さな携帯ゲーム機と単純なゲームとともに1970年代に誕生しました。1980年代、テレビ画面上にゲームを映し出すゲーム機の出現とともに、日本のコンピューターゲーム産業は大きく成長しました。コンピューターゲームはさらに精巧になり、2人でできるゲームも登場しました。2001年には、日本は2千万台のゲームボーイ(うち4分の3は輸出)と2千5百万台のプレーステーション(うち8割は輸出)を出荷しました。 日本国内ゲームソフト市場は90年代を通じて、年間出荷数6千2百万本から9千8百万本となっています。また、海外にも大きな日本製ゲームソフト市場があります。日本国内では、人気の高いゲームソフトの精巧なプロットや独特のゲームキャラクターは、多くの場合、漫画やアニメと連動しています。 最近では古い携帯ゲームが携帯電話用のゲームとして復活し、世代や性別を超えて楽しまれています。
